I haven’t posted in a few days, as I’ve been busy with work and other things. I haven’t been observing my 21 days as well as I had hoped, I missed doing my meditations for the past two nights and I haven’t exercised all week. Today there are busywork things to do before going in to Eye of Horus to do readings tonight, and my office is such a mess I can hardly stand working in it. So finally I will do some organizing, as all the clutter does nothing for the energy down here either. The weekend will be extremely busy, and I have much to prepare beforehand as well, working diligently is part of the Reiki path though, and it’s something to meditate on when details begin to annoy me.

The way I first learned this one is “earn your living honestly,” and I was taught that’s from Takata’s translation. I have also seen “work hard” and “Apply yourself diligently” as alternate translations. Perhaps it would be best to understand it as all three, and sometimes we need a reminder that good work can bring us closer to spiritual understanding, whatever that work may be. So off to work I go!

The twenty one days are passing quickly, leaving some changes in their wake and no doubt in my mind about the power of Reiki. Last night was spent in joyful laughter and delight as my husband and I went out to see a show of belly dancers and other performances despite the frigid cold temperatures. That’s January in Minnesota, and there was a good turnout despite the weather. That’s because we understand the season, and the need for human companionship and the celebration of the creative spark at this time of year. The cold brings out the best in us, and there’s nothing like a live performance to feed the spirit.

Every performer creates an energy and invites the audience to participate in it, to come together for a brief moment in time and touch the power of creation. Reiki is all about finding your happy place in the quiet center of your being, and it is an energy that is shared with practitioner and client, teacher and student. This joyful spirit that Reiki brings to us also brings us closer to the power of creation, and a greater appreciation of the joys that life can bring. Sitting in the audience was one of the most blissful activities I’ve had in a long time, my husband felt the same way and we discussed it on the drive home.

Connecting with others in the process and celebration of the creative spirit erases all worry, so it’s a brighter day for me today than it might have been if I hadn’t braved the sub-zero temperatures to see a show. My husband and I have made a wonderful memory to share, all the performers shared their talents and creative spirit, and the joy that they brought will continue through time. Remembering joyful moments invites more of them into your life, as you feel the happiness fill your heart all over again. Where will you find your joy today?

Maybe having a better breakfast tomorrow would be in order, SlimFast seems to give me a serious sugar low early in the day, which doesn’t help my mood at all. I overslept, so I didn’t get my Yoga in either. I just wanted to drop a note to say that not all days are sunshine and roses with Reiki III, but I’ve got skills to cope with that and will be doing a nice long meditation tonight after some more organizing in the studio.

A few fortunate events have been transpiring on my behalf lately, signs that good things are coming my way. Something that I thought was long lost was found again, and a new opportunity to get closer to family. This has been a day of blessings, and I’m am grateful to everyone who has helped the sun shine a little brighter in my corner of the universe.

It’s been several years since I let my subscription to Yoga Journal expire. I think I was getting it for about two years or so, I’m not really sure what happened to my old issues. I think they might be in my studio somewhere. Until this Reiki business really takes off, we’re on a tight budget, but I managed to squeeze together the $15.95 to subscribe again. It’s a good investment as reading tends to hold my interest in any hobby or activity I’m interested in.

The first time I really did much Yoga, I was working full-time and going to school full-time. Over the past few years I wondered how I managed it, now I remember that I did keep up with exercising at least a few times a week, and that included Yoga. I’ve gone through other phases of consistent exercise since then, usually in an effort to lose some weight. What would happen is I’d plateau on the weight loss, and after a few weeks of no change on the scale I’d fall out of the habit. Silly I know, but a woman learns a few things the hard way on the path to being 41. This time it can’t be temporary, it has to be a permanent lifestyle change.

This morning’s yoga session went slightly better than Sunday’s, and I have that relaxed warm feeling that yoga brings. I feel lighter and brighter than I did yesterday, when I slept in and skipped my aerobic exercise. For this phase of my fitness adventure, I’m concentrating on the holistic approach, so strong and flexible is more important to me than rapid weight loss. With the tools and inspiration of the Yoga Journal coming to my doorstep, plus YogaJournal.com’s incredibly informational website at my fingertips, I’ll have all the wisdom I need at my fingertips.
