I have a magnet on the side of my computer that reads: LIFE ISN’T ABOUT FINDING YOURSELF. LIFE IS ABOUT CREATING YOURSELF. (unknown)

Since the author is unknown, I had planned on taking that idea and adding it to my designs for the Reiki Artist Store for some time now. Another thing that I’ve been planning on doing is organizing my artist studio so I could actually start doing some creative things with pencils and brushes and whatnot, rather than pixels and keyboards like I’ve been doing for quite a while now. I am the Reiki ARTIST after all.

So now I’ve completed one of my tasks:

So now I have to get down to business and set up that art studio. There, I put it out there and now I must account for my actions. The truth is there is nothing more exciting, or intimidating, as a blank sheet of paper or a white canvas. On the computer, there is always the undo button, and I can save different versions as I go along. But on a piece of paper? There’s only so much erasing you can do before it damages the paper and it becomes hard to use. Paintings you can paint over, but not without some difficulty.

But we are constantly creating things in our lives, whether it be art, an outfit, or lunch. We humans, we make things by chosing to do or not to do. And this design is for everyone who ever decided to create anything in their life. Even if it’s just creating a smile.

Have a wonderful and creative week!

Our perception of our own reality is our choice. It is an outstandingly beautiful morning here in the Reiki Artist Studio, and it was actually warm enough to have my morning coffee out on the deck. As I look out over the yard, I dream about the beautiful garden that I want to create there. This year we will be concentrating on the front garden and getting that into shape. The back yard will be maintenance and cleanup for now.

The measuring has begun for the garden designs, and I am very excited to spend every waking moment on the weekends getting everything set up. Growing my Reiki Practice and teaching Reiki is my top priority. Yesterday’s anxiety about the pending layoff has been replaced with excitement about putting together a plan for the future.

The postcards that I designed to promote the Reiki Artist Store are on their way to me right now. I’ve decided what I really want out of life, and that’s to create a healing sanctuary out of my home. In the front there will be a rock garden, flower gardens, and a stone path leading up to a Zen arbor. Then in the back we will spruce up the fire-pit, and put in a labyrinth garden in the shade of the huge silver maple. Yes, it’s a big back yard with many different zones for my creative juices to flow in.

It’s all about healing and being what my spirit knows I can be. This is a Good Morning indeed!

I hadn’t planned on doing another reiki design tonight (or two) but I did. It all started with a phone call to my sister, who knows me better than anybody. For some reason, I was feeling frustrated with the growth of my Reiki Artist Store, because I appear to be coasting at the moment. Last month was almost exactly the same as March of 2008 as far as total sales goes, which I should feel darned happy with when I really think about it. She suggested that I do a new design. Since I have no shortage of ideas in my head, I decided that she was right and that I should shake one loose.

I knew I wanted the Japanese kanji characters for Reiki against a heart background for my I Love Reiki section. While I was playing around with the shape of the heart, the kanji went over the edge and I liked what I saw. It OPENED THE HEART which is exactly what happens during the Reiki I class during the attunement process. Letting go of my worries also makes my heart feel that much more open, as well as opening my mind to new possibilities.

Exploring the concept of the open heart put into mind the seven chakras and their colors…and so came a variation on the theme. This has been a lesson in blessings for me, and why I love reiki so much in the first place. I’ve been blogging about it for two years now, and one of my first designs I did for the Reiki Artist Store was the I Love Reiki design.

When I first opened my little store, I had no idea how much it would grow over the past year and a half it’s been going. Or how much I would enjoy coming up with yet another design for Reiki enthusiasts out there. Heck, I had no idea how I was going to write about Reiki in the blog and keep it going. But I have managed to keep the blog up since March of 2007. Other blogs have come and gone, blogs that I loved to visit, and I’m still tip-tapping away at the keyboard.

Sometimes I run into people and I had no idea they’d read my blog. Keeping an open mind when it comes to the wide-reaching effects of Reiki is a very good idea. The path you think you are on often changes direction and takes you to incredible places. All from the comfort of a reiki table.

The author is a friend of mine, so I wanted to be sure to show up for this one.

I wanted to buy my copy of the book, but when I arrived at the store, another friend of mine snagged the last copy of the book that they had on hand. But, since I know the author, I’ll get my own copy later and have her sign it some other time. I also wanted to be sure to blog about it so I had my husband come with camera in hand so I had some visual record of the event to share as well. There were all kinds of interesting people there, and after a while little groups broke off and conversations went just about everywhere.

That's me with my new short hair! People are deep in conversation behind me, everyone was having a good time.

Tomorrow I’ll be back at the store to do my regular reiki sessions, and I’ll order a copy of the book then. It really looks like a wonderful one, right up my alley:

Through four faces, four masks of the Muse, this book explores different aspects of inspiration, creativity, and magick. Aphrodite, Cerridwen, Ariadne, and the Lady of the Lake await, each to teach us of the Arts and what we are capable of at our very best.

By the poetry, prayer, invocation, and ritual contained within we can come to know the Muse and so know ourselves and the gifts we all have within us that demand recognition and expression. The path of the Muse may not always be an easy or a safe one, but anything worth having is worth paying the price for. Who is the Muse? Who are we?

This book is a journey, one that we must dare to take and dare to take hold of what is revealed.. As we must return to the well of memory, the depths of the ocean, and the currents below the earth, there to claim what was ours all along.

Now that’s a book that I can really get into! So much of my personal meditations lately have been very revealing. I’ve been exploring healing in different ways, and have learned a great deal about myself in the process. I don’t call this blog “the adventures of a reiki practioner” for nothing.

Life is such an adventure that I never really know what’s around the corner. For me, part of the excitement of living is spending time with people and sharing in their lives in a meaningful way. Blogging online is great, but being with people in person is much, much, better. I guess I just really like a hands on approach!
