Reiki I Class - Shoden
Shoden is a Japanese word meaning 'first teachings'. The purpose
of the Reiki I class is to learn to sense Ki, cultivate Ki and
use this knowledge to ground and heal the self and others. During
this class the student will gain experience with four of the Elements
of Reiki which are:
- Gokai Develop the spiritual and mental connection using
gokai (five precepts).
- Kokyû hô Learn kokyû hô (breathing
techniques) appropriate to this level to ground the student.
- Tenohira The physical practice of tenohira (palm-healing)
on the self and others for the purpose of healing.
- Reiju Receive reiju (a blessing) from a teacher to
develop the students energetic connection.
The Reiki I Shoden student will get his/her first experience
with working with the system of Reiki. This is a two day workshop,
with ample time for practice to gain a deep understanding of how
this system works. Each student will both give and receive a full
reiki treatment as part of the course. The focus is on personal
development and spirituality, with an emphasis on the traditional
Japanese teachings. My aim as your teacher is to connect all practitioners
with Reiki's true spiritual depth.
Each of the five elements of the system of Reiki will be taught
to you including receiving 4 attunements or reijus, an energy
blessing that clear the body's energy channels. Over the course
of the day the body will begin to adjust to this energy. For some
students this is experienced as a connection to a new world as
perceptions change, renewing balance and harmony.
After completing Reiki I Shoden the student is asked to continue
practicing on oneself. This continues the energetic clearing,
which was initiated during the course itself, and is the foundation
of the practice of Reiki. I see the studying of the system of
Reiki as a spiritual journey one that is undertaken by
you with every support offered during, and after, the course by
me as your teacher.

All students are asked to continue practicing after the

course traditionally is considered to be an introduction to that
level - consequently a supremely high level of ongoing support
is offered to all my students.
Ongoing support includes monthly Reiki
Shares where students can practice reiki and receive reiki
from myself and other students and practitioners. I also recommend
the Online Programs offered by the
International House of Reiki to deepen your connection to
this wonderful system. My monthly newsletter features a new article
and a new positive affirmation each month and is open to students
and reiki curious web surfers alike. You will also be kept
up to date on all of my upcoming classes.
