Winter in Minnesota is extra snowy this year and there are at least two more months of snow to come. February and March are the snowiest months, and we had the snowiest December on record.

Reiki Sessions are offered every Sunday in Minneapolis at Eye of Horus Metaphysical at my Sunday Reiki Clinic. You can book your appointment by calling 612-872-1292, or if your just curious stop in between 11 a.m.  and 3 p.m. on Sundays. The door is always open when I’m not in a session, and I’m always glad to talk with people about Reiki.

The store is located at 3012 Lyndale Ave. S. in the uptown area of Minneapolis, just off of Lake Street. It’s a great neighborhood with fun shopping and wonderful restaurants as well. Come in and start off your week with Reiki!

What the heck is a Faerie Reading and what is it doing on a Reiki website? As a Reiki practitioner, I’m sensitive to spiritual energies of all kinds. As an artist I’ve been drawn to spiritual subjects such as Nature Spirits, and they’ve been drawn to me as well.

Reiki is a natural system, and all things in nature work beautifully together, including the Natural helpers that are known as Faerie. My connection with faerie is detailed somewhat on my page about Faerie Readings. You can get a reading yourself with me on Wednesday nights at Eye of Horus, just call 612-872-1292 to make an appointment.

Part of my spiritual path is working with the Faery, so I’m delighted to tell you that I will be taking Module I of the Path of the Faery Seer with Orion Foxwood this February! This is a two day intensive workshop and there is still space available.

Faery Seership involves a collection of lore, customs, techniques and prohibitions, which are influenced by the Celtic and pre Celtic tribes of Europe. It focuses on the living inner common wealth of the sacred land in the other world. The workshop will be held February 26th & 27th, 2011 (Saturday & Sunday) at Eye of Horus Metaphysical in Minneapolis (of course!).

On August 17th, 2010, I founded the Twin Cities Pagan Healers Meetup Group. So here’s the deal…Pagans are healers.

I don’t know about you, but every group I’ve ever circled with whether it’s Wiccan, Druidic, Eclectic Pagan, or some variation thereof does some kind of healing ritual at some time. And in amongst the members are massage therapists, nurses, Reiki Masters, Tai Chi practitioners, herbalists, counselors, psychologists, tarot readers…all healers. Living in Paganistan myself and working as both a Reiki Master and Intuitive Reader, plus having my day job, it seemed to me there was a need that wasn’t being addressed by current meetup groups locally.

Twin Cities Pagan Healers Meetup GroupSo the Twin Cities Pagan Healers Meetup Group began. While I may be the organizer, I want all the members to be involved and have a share in providing meetups for our community. Joining the Meet-up Group is easy, just go the website and join today!

White Light Reiki

Today I had the honor to do a distance Reiki Session with a friend of mine. She lives about an hour away, and with the weather being wet and icy we both thought it better that I stay safe in my Reiki Room and she in her home for the Reiki Session.

When I connect with Reiki, it’s energy flows through me and out my hands. When it does that, it can land wherever in the universe that it is needed. That’s how I can send this healing energy to my friend miles away. For my own benefit and concentration, I use a large teddy bear as a surrogate for the recipient. That way I’m doing my hands on healing as I would normally do, only with the intention that the bear is a stand in. For today’s session, we pre-arranged a time when she would call me when she was ready to begin the session, and I would call her when it was done.

Step one for me was to gently remove the cat from the Reiki table and put the bear on. After a little coaching and nudging, Caruso left easily enough, so I proceeded to lay the teddy bear on the table. Everything else I treat just as if I was doing a regular session, I lit my candles, got out my healer’s spray, and put on a soothing CD. One of the fun benefits of working on a 3 foot stuffed animal rather than a 5+ foot human body is that I can work on the feet and the head at the same time.

I began at the head, drawing the Reiki Symbols on my hands, and then above my recipient’s crown Chakra for the healing attunement. This is very helpful in connecting to the aura and setting the intention for the healing. It’s like blowing a gentle breeze made entirely of Reiki through the aura. Then I proceeded as I normally would, beginning with the head and moving down the torso to the legs and the feet.

About half-way through the session, my intuition told me to get out a Blue quartz crystal and use that on her chakras. Blue Quartz has the healing property of bringing order, releasing fear, and instilling courage to one’s life. Because of it’s gentle blue color, it is associated with the throat chakra and enhances communication between the lower and higher chakras. This is a very helpful attribute in healing because it brings the mind & body in connection with spirit, helping to cross that bridge to manifesting wellness on the physical plane. I also chose the blue color because we were trying to bring a cooling water energy, as my friend is going through chemotherapy which is a very fiery kind of healing, and often left her feeling hot especially in her feet.

This was a wonderful 30 minute session, and I had some visionary experiences that I shared with my friend when we were through. It was truly beautiful, and I felt an in-flowing of love during the session, the most powerful healing energy of all. When I asked how she felt, she said she felt very calm and cool, and her cats who normally would snuggle on top of her laid down one on either side during the session. She also shared that she normally experiences energy work in terms of different colors, but this time saw pure white light.

I had a sense of this lightness myself, of a crystal sparkle or brilliance tingling in my crown chakra, even as I write this. It’s a wonderful blessing that was given to both of us. I’ve left the Blue Quartz on the pillow above the Reiki Bear’s head as an extra measure to let any additional reiki flow through that will through tomorrow. Caruso will have to settle for another place to nap until morning comes.

More Snow = More Reiki

With all the additional snow we are getting this season, I’m finding I need a little extra Reiki to get through the day.  The constant shoveling of walks and driveways, not to mention having to clean the car off whether you are coming and going, seems to make the day go by more slowly. Don’t get me wrong, it certainly is beautiful to look at with candles burning and a cat on your lap, but having to clear things away constantly takes it’s toll. All this time spending pushing snow around and driving slowly and carefully just makes those holiday to-do lists hard to get through.

So tonight, I’m definitely doing my Reiki before bed, and I plan on doing Reiki in the morning as well. A double dose a day until the snow passes and my list gets more manageable. I really do love living in Minnesota, but this time of year it sure would be easier to be a Hermit!
