Five Ways To Thrive As a Reiki Practitioner

Whether you are new to Reiki, or are a seasoned Reiki Master, the number one essential thing you can do to thrive as a practitioner is to practice self reiki. Once you have been attuned to Reiki, you are now a reiki person. That means you have the ability to tap into that universal life force that supports your personal wellness as well as giving you the ability to help others. Everyone is drawn to Reiki in their own way, whether it is for personal growth, empathy for others, or as part of your spiritual path.

Often there is a great sense of blessing, peace, and even excitement when you first begin to practice reiki on yourself and others. These feelings are a result of the attunement process, and naturally begin to level out over time. After the class is over and the weeks turn into months, it can be hard to maintain your practice. If you want more from your current reiki practice, here are five ways that can help you flourish.

1 – Daily self reiki

If you are new to Reiki, or have lapsed in your practice, it might feel strange to give yourself a reiki treatment. Maybe you use reiki frequently on others and don’t think you need it because the reiki is flowing through you. But if you really want to grow as a reiki person, and to offer the best service to your clients, then getting your self reiki habit going is the key that unlocks everything.

You are your most important Reiki client. So take a moment and practice this quick self reiki routine:

  • Close your eyes and bring your palms together in prayer position and invite reiki to flow through you and to you
  • Gently lay hands on your head and ask reiki to bless your mind with peace and clarity
  • Move your hands to over your heart and ask reiki to bless your heart with love and emotional healing
  • Move your hands to over your naval and ask reiki to bless you with strength and energy throughout the day
  • Finally, move your hands to your legs and with your feet on the floor ask reiki to make you feel grounded in the present moment, so you can manifest what you need on this day

If you are trained in Reiki II or above, you can also add the reiki symbols wherever you think they are needed during your self healing.

2 – Blessing your meals with reiki

I love food, and I love cooking. When I started practicing blessing my meals with Reiki, it was a real game changer for me. There was something that shifted in my thinking, because now I was actually eating reiki food! This is a GREAT way to strengthen your personal practice and keep your aura charged up with healing energy. Just think about it. Many cultures and beliefs have practices around blessing food. Eating is something you do every day anyway, may as well add a little reiki seasoning!

If you are out with friends or having lunch with coworkers, you can still do this quietly and discreetly by letting reiki flow through your fingertips to your plate, glass, and silverware. No need to make a show of waving your hands over your food to charge it with healing energy in front of your boss. Unless you want to of course. You do you.

3 – Cleansing your home with reiki

Keeping your house energetically clean is as simple as beaming reiki into each room as you enter it. If you are a candle lover, you can charge your candles with reiki so that every time you light them, they will radiate universal life force energy.

Let’s be practical, we all need to tidy up our spaces, so you might as well do the work with your reiki hands active. That way you are blessing your home with every swish, swipe, and sweep. All of this is just to show you that small blessings add up to create a life filled high with healing vibrational energy.

If you are a reiki master, I double dog dare you to attune your vacuum cleaner. Let me know how it turns out.

4 – Make the Five Reiki Precepts a daily affirmation or prayer

Just for today, do not worry

Just for today, do not anger

Honor your parents, teachers and elders

Earn your living honestly

Show Gratitude to every living thing

When I first learned these Reiki Precepts, I made an effort to learn it by heart. Think about what that really means. When I learn something by heart, it stays with me in my heart, I take it to my heart and let it power my heart chakra which brings everything into balance. By speaking them out loud, it brings them out from my heart into the world. This brought about a shift in my thinking to the point that I recognized areas of my life that were not in sync with my intention.

Making the necessary changes became an essential part of my practice, and who I wanted to be as a person. Now I am living life more closely aligned with these precepts than I was five years ago.

5 – Reiki as part of your nightly routine

As the day comes to a close, and the energy of the day subsides, it’s a perfect time to take a moment and reflect. How did you do today? Was it a good day or a bad day? We all have both, reiki isn’t a magic bullet, it is a personal practice. Whether you keep a To Do list, or like to journal, it can be helpful to note how you use reiki throughout your day. That way you have something concrete to look back on.

Of course I’m not going to end this list with just making notes, it’s all about building good reiki habits after all. Blessing your pillow and bed for a good night’s sleep is an excellent way to finish up your day and get ready for a more energetic tomorrow.

Those are my five tips, but what do you think? If you’re a reiki practitioner, please comment below with how you like to keep your self reiki practice on track.
